South Wales firm helps take the hassle out of IT
PARAMOUNT Information Technology Ltd. is helping businesses
to remain focused on their aims to achieve their business goals.
The South Wales IT business removes the hassle from firms who
need to use computers and related software as part of their work
allowing them instead to concentrate fully on core activities.
Paramont IT Executive Director Richard Davis said: “The
majority of businesses these days need at least some level of
ICT as part of their business but they don’t want to be
bogged down dealing with the management and running of these
systems which is where we can step in and take over.
“We help people to understand the capabilities offered
by modern technology, which will be of benefit to their individual
business and help them to grow, and then let them get on with
running their businesses.
“We provide tailored services to customers and bespoke
solutions. By offering the Windows SBS (Small Business Server)
as part of the IT package we are providing them with many of
the networking features used by much larger concerns but without
the complexity.”
Paramount IT, based in Newport, is currently working with Cardiff-based
firm of solicitors, Malloy and Barry.
Partner Kieron Malloy said: “We realised at an early stage
that to keep pace with the constantly changing market place,
and the changes in the current business environment, it would
be of benefit to the practice to find a computer system which
gave us the complete business service solution.
“We required a system which offered us the full range
of businesses applications suited for our immediate needs and
also to help us to cope with the growth of the practice.”
Mr Malloy said the busy Cardiff solicitors’ practice had
experienced problems in the past with its data back up and potentially ‘catastrophic’ failures
of its tape drives.
“We called in Paramount IT to help solve our problems
and our system is now safe and secure. The firm provided us with
a seamless installation service over a weekend which minimized
operational disturbance, which in a competitive market is essential”.
“One of the major benefits of the SBS system is the remote
Web Workplace which allows our staff to work from home yet at
the same time retain continuity of data with the office which
also allows remote printing at the office or home computer.”
Another benefit is that Paramount IT can dial into the system
and repair any fault or problem remotely without having to actually
call into the office.
Malloy and Barry is now exploring the possibilities offered
by the use of wireless, WiFi, technology.
Mr Malloy said: “We believe the way forward is WiFi and
one of the partners is currently assessing a tablet notebook
in readiness for the introduction, by the courts of WiFi technology.
Malloy & Barry has also updated its accounting and time
recording systems using SOS (Solicitors Own Software).
Mr Malloy said: “Our accounting and time recording system
is provided by SOS which was originally installed in our first
computer system in 1996 when the practice was formed.
“Paramount and SOS has worked closely together in the
change over to the new SBS. We are delighted that our nine
year relationship with SOS has resulted in consistent, ongoing
and high impact results.”
Bath based-SOS is a leading supplier of software to law firms.
The company specialises in driving efficiency in legal practice
and case management processes, allowing lawyers to focus on fee

systems it has provided to clients over the last 17 years. More

Elaine Galvin, Commercial Director of SOS, said: “The
partnership with Paramount has allowed the smooth transition
to SBS hardware on behalf of Malloy & Barry. Paramount
has worked with our dedicated and experienced team to deal with
data and hardware transfer to provide peace of mind, with a 100%
conversion success rate.”
